| On January 24, the Antwerp Modenatie has organized a special fashion show. Not with catwalk models this time but with CEOs from Flemish companies. Scabal has dressed Ron Emrechts from Care NV.
The show had excellent visibility towards the fashion crowd, politicians and managers. Tailoring with a twist Scabal is presenting an ode to the art of the couturier for the summer of 2010. Know-how, many years of experience and a dedication to personal service are the pillars of these “artists of male elegance”. | Scabal is always raising the bar when it involves luxury and technical know-how. One of the more carefully guarded secrets is the procedure Scabal uses for incorporating gold into its fabrics. Now the luxury fabric producer has used the very latest techniques to incorporate platinum and 24-carat gold into a new fabric collection called “Treasure Box”. The first Scabal cloth with gold was “Gold Treasure”, a fabric incorporating 22-carat gold, and was launched in 1999. The continuing demand meant the collection was re-launched in 2005 with new designs. Gold fever has obviously struck Scabal and they are now launching an ultra fine Super 150’s wool from an exceptional bale of Australian merinos wool in which precious metals are incorporated. |  |

| In close, respectful collaboration, the craftsmen of Scabal and Delvaux worked together to create perfectly finished bespoke designs in high quality fabric and leather. And that should come as no surprise. Scabal has been creating high quality men's suiting for over seventy years. Since the 1970s, they have been used in the House's own menswear collections and bespoke suits. Since 1829, Delvaux, the oldest fine luxury leather goods company in the world, has sold limited edition luxury leather goods.

| In view of the immense demand, Scabal has decided to develop a brand-new fabric range on the “Diamond Chip” theme that was launched in 2001. The new collection comprises no less than 16 different patterns and colours. The diamond chips are processed into the cloth as soon as the wool has been cleaned and combed. The result is a shiny thread to be woven into exceptional fabrics. The cloth consists of a Super 150’s wool and pure silk and is being woven at Scabal’s own weaving-mill in Huddersfield (UK). The 2009 “Diamond Chip” collection is available from April at luxury menswear stores. | Scabal dressed the window of Fricks, customer of Scabal since a very long time. The family business owned by Bloemen presents our Made To Measure, Ready To Wear and Accessories lines in their store in Sint Truiden (Belgium). Three generations, over 30 years of experience assist you in the purchase of your ideal suit. Fricks also has a women's store and specific ceremony store, all close to one another in the heart of this 1300 year old city in the province of Limburg.

To borrow a sentiment of Umberto Eco, "We all stand on the shoulders of giants". Nowhere is this more true than on Savile Row, where, for more than 2 centuries, the craft of bespoke tailoring has been practised by successive generations of tailors who are acknowledged to be the world's best suit makers. In the fourth edition of BESPOKEN, a 6 page article was dedicated to this extraordinary London street of tailoring. in the article you can read about the origins of "the Row", the current fashion influence, Scabal's opening in the seventies. | Following its first edition in 2003, Scabal launches a new Lapis Lazuli fabric collection. Lapis lazuli ( “blue stone”) has been extracted and revered for more than 6000 years. Since time immemorial, lapis lazuli has been known for its therapeutic properties and aesthetic characteristics. Today, lapis lazuli is used in jewels and in alternative therapies. Scabal succeeds in integrating microscopic particles of lapis lazuli in a Super 150’s wool that can be worn all year round. This new collection is available in 18 different designs. Important are the finely balanced stripe designs with decoration in the special lapis lazuli blue shade. This exceptional cloth will doubtless entice men seeking quality but yet appreciate discreet luxury. As from October 2008, Lapis Lazuli is available in the 65 countries in which Scabal has a presence. |  |

| Last weekend Scabal participated in the second edition of the tailor made weekend in the beautiful castle of Edingen/Enghien. The castle is famous for it’s park of 182 ha that has inspired the Versailles gardens. It has been built in 1913 in a Louis XVI style and is a masterpiece of neo classic design. The architect Alexandre Marcel has also built the basilica of and palace of Heliopolis, a city nearby Cairo. Thanks to our customer Labaere from Zottegem over 3500 persons visited the fair from Friday to Sunday and admired the made to measure articles in different rooms of the castle. Up until recently, personalised custom tailoring at Scabal was only available for suits. Starting next season, Scabal will also be offering made-to-measure shirts. The shirts are made at the top production houses in Italy. Scabal offers a choice of six models, ranging in style from classic to modern and formal, each with seven different collars and three different cuff styles. Delivery time for the shirts is four weeks. |  |

Scabal was pleased to host its top Savile Row tailor customers at its Bower Roebuck Mill, in Yorkshire last week. The tailors were shown the Scabal mill where a large part of the Scabal fabric collections is produced. In the luxury segment, Scabal has once again raised the bar by developing suit fabrics in vicuña, a technical achievement that is the fruit of years of research and development. Vicuña is one of the softest and finest types of wool available. Because the wool is so fine, it was technically impossible to process it into suit-quality fabric. Scabal has now successfully overcome this challenge. The fibres of the combed vicuña wool have to be sorted according the length first, before they can be spun into yarn. The Scabal fabrics made from vicuña make up a small collection in classic patterns. This exceptional fabric is naturally highly exclusive and luxurious yet exceedingly discreet. Only the trained eye of an expert can recognise it on sight, but its amazing lightness and softness are instantly apparent to the touch. |  |
